My friend is moving across the country and can’t take all his project cars with him, so I offered to help him sell his 1967 Jaguar 3.8s. The car is located in Naperville, IL.

This car was originally sold in South Africa and was imported to the US 4 years ago. It is a very strong runner and is fun to drive. The engine starts easily on the first try and runs smoothly. The gearbox shifts without issue and the overdrive on 4th gear engages quietly when commanded. The brakes are smooth and squeal free. This car has twin fuel tanks and switching between the left and right tank works flawlessly.

The interior is in very good shape and has no major issues. The windows open and close smoothly, the gauges all work, and even the air vents rotate correctly (If you’re not familiar with the Early Saloons, there are two knobs on either side of the Hot – Cold slider that turn vents in the driver and passenger footwell. Using them you can direct air towards your feet or towards your face).

After spending some time with the car, here is the list of things I know do not work: The cabin fan does not run and it appears that the clock does not work either. The fresh air vent at the base of the windshield does not open when the “Air” button is selected. The radio is missing.

I believe the paint is Olde English White and is still in good condition. It shines well and still has good clarity. There are a few very small chips and bubbles that I have included pictures of but is otherwise in good shape.

I have spent considerable time driving this car and it’s a joy to drive. This is a car that draws attention. Children will stop and wave, adults will give you thumbs up. To be fair the car is not in perfect condition. I would rate it as a driver’s car versus a totally restored, concours event winning car.

The car has had a tune-up, new fuel pump, cooling system refresh (including cleaning the radiator and testing the gauge and voltage stabilizer), a front brake job, as well as a new brake master cylinder and brake servo.

The car has a clean Original Illinois title. The odometer currently reads 37,609 but true mileage is unknown. The car is sold as-is and where-is; . The odometer Full payment is due via wire transfer within 3 days of auction close and the car must be picked up withing 2 weeks. If you need to make other arrangements please contact me first.
