I have owned several 65-68 Fastbacks and have never come across one this original or intact. The body appears to be all metal, and in highly original condition. The car was last on the road in 1985 and spent its entire life south of Dallas. It still has a student parking sticker in the rear window from 1972 for Mary Hardin-Baylor College which is a small Christian College in Belton Texas. The car still has a crucifix hanging from the rear-view mirror.
I cannot overstate how nice, straight, dry, rust free and original this body is. Yes its 60+ years old, so it does have a few small dings but given it was only on the road for 19 years of its life and remained in Texas its entire life, it is an amazing time capsule. Underneath, it was heavily undercoated early in its life, peeling away a couple of small sections reveals the original red oxide FORD primer on the floorboards. The only rust (beyond surface) I can find is the battery tray and some pin holes on the front right corner of the passenger floorboard. the body/door/hood gaps on this car are pristine! The dash shows 38k miles and given the originality, condition and length of time the car has been off the road, it’s absolutely believable. The car still has all original glass and appears to have its original headlights and taillights as well as chrome and trim.
Under the hood, this c-code car retains its 289 and still has the original radiator, 6 blade fan (AC car), FOMOCO bladder, and original carb. Again its highly original throughout. The engine turns at the crank but I have not attempted to get it started. The car has no driveshaft so I’m guessing the C4 transmission was the reason it was parked 40 years ago.
