1958 Buick Century 2 door hardtop coupe , 48k mile I bought it about a year ago with the intention of making it mechanically road worthy , but leaving the body and interior original. I went as far as I’m willing to go. Now it’s up to someone else to save her. I still have the original title in the original owners name. Although it is a project , it is still a very complete original car. The numbers on the engine do match the vin. It is a 364 nailhead with factory 4 barrel , auto trans , power steering , power brakes , am radio. When I got the car , it had been sitting since 1976. I have spent a lot of time and money under the hood. Rebuilt carb , starter , generator and waterpump. All new gaskets on top end , including intake , exhaust manifolds , valve covers , thermostat and carb. New plugs , wires , cap and rotor. I media blasted and painted everything I removed before reinstalling. The engine has NOT been removed or rebuilt. I only did what was needed and detailed the engine compartment. The engine fires right up and runs smooth. A little smoke at start up , but clears up right away. Still may need some minor adjustment to timing and carb. I replaced the wheel cylinders and brake hoses. I was able to bleed brakes and get a good pedal , but found brake fluid under the car after it sat a couple days. Appears to be leaking from a hard line , but I did not go any further. I do not know the condition of the power brake booster. I only painted it and reinstalled. The trans does go into drive and reverse but it does have a pretty good fluid leak from the tail of the trans. I have not driven it on the road. I only backed it in and out of my garage. I do not know the condition of the trans at any other speed. The car is running of a gas can. I currently have the gas tank out because I was going to have it cleaned. The gas tank is the only major part that is not original to the car. The power steering pump just started leaking a couple days ago. might be minor , but it was enough for me to close the hood and walk away. The exterior of the body is pretty solid. I included pictures of the worst spots. The passenger side rocker has a hole and the drivers side lower 1/4 panel needs a patch in front of the tire. The floors are soft in a few spots and there are a couple holes , but not enough to say it needs complete floors. The trunk is very solid. Interior is all original. It had a padded dash , but it was shot. I removed the upper dash and sanded and painted it so I wouldn’t have padding blowing in my face. The front of the dash is missing in the pictures , but I do have the core. All exterior trim is on the car except a piece of trim above the passenger side headlight. There is damage to the drivers side tail light and 1/4 panel. The tail light is broken and the tail fin is pushed in.
