Original 1953 commander Star Liner hardtop. Studebaker Starliner
Here is what you are bidding on, it is not a barn find but an original 81 year old Studebaker perfect to restore, the old saying says to restore an old car then start with the best one you can find.
This car belongs to a friend of mine and asked me to sell it for him, he is 80 and has not driven in the last two years with it sitting in his shop on and off for about 5 years.
This car is a nice 53 commander star liner hard top with 95% perfect body there is one very small rust spot starting in the driver side fender down low. Also a small dent in the driver side rear fender by the bumper.
The car has a Rebuilt 232 commander V-8 and 3 speed with overdrive transmission, and the very rare power steering in a 53, good original chrome not perfect but the best for doing a rechrome job . Remember this chrome is also 81 years old same as the stainless trim. The interior also original will need to be redone but all the right pieces are there.
There has been duel exhaust added and the generator has been replaced with alternator 6 volt. The original wheels used with the speedster wheel covers, the glass is good and might be tinted, tires are old and do hold air but I would not drive very far on them. This car is to nice to change to a custom but buyers do as they please. The Engine was changed and Rebuilt to a Studebaker Clover leaf engine 232 commander V-8 just before I bought it. This car is in Northern California
