1940 Chevrolet K35 Pick Up Truck Barn Find – running and driving farm truck. Obviously used and kept running by someone who needed it to work. The bed is “custom” built out of old barn wood. It even has a fully adjustable tailgate and just like its modern cousin, it just uses a chain and lever binder instead of an electric motor. The patina is simply unbelievable. Eighty-two years of work and play cannot be duplicated. It’s been kept running but not modernized – except for new brake lines, tires, wheels as well as being converted to 12 volts to make it drivable. You still get the joy of driving a classic straight 6 cylinder, 4 speed manual with strait cut gears (double clutching required), no power brakes or steering and you better brush up on your hand signals because there aren’t any turn signals. Joking aside, it runs and drives great – turning heads wherever you go. I took it to Home Depot the other day and loaded it up with bags of mulch for my wife and the truck drew a crowd. On the way home it didn’t miss a beat. I think it even ran better with a load in it. I just hope I run as good at 82 as this truck. Ok, sure, drop in a small block and a turbo 350, a mustang 2 front end for power steering and you would have a one-of-a-kind classic you could drive anywhere. But I kind of like driving old school…
