1917 Cadillac Type 55. Has been stored in a garage since the mid 80’s, and a shop since the 40s-50s before that. Shows 19727 miles.
Driveline & Frame
Driveline and frame is 98% intact.
Newer 1918+ engine.
The previous owner’s friend helped rebuild the engine in the mid 80’s. At the time they had to machine new rings and bearings(babbit?). Doesn’t have much run time because the car was disassembled before the engine was completed.
Engine holds 60psi hot. No abnormal noises. Some smoke from one bank but it could be the oil I dumped in the cylinders. I’ve only run it 5 minutes. I believe its 99% complete, just missing the starter shaft and could use a new primer cup
Engine number is 58M105. No info found on 58 prefix anywhere.
Clutch grabs good. All gears work. Transmission is quiet.
Brakes work.
Smooth steering. Not sloppy or worn out feeling.
Suspension is complete and doesn’t seem worn out.
Factory compressor and fuel system appear complete.
Radiator appears to be original honeycomb style. Doesn’t look bashed up or rotted.
Small spot of minor rust on passenger side. Weld at back end of frame.
Starter shaft is missing. Currently its pull start only.
Body
Appears to have been a wrecker/tow truck/fire truck at some point. I’m not entirely sure what it was.
Body is cut off behind front seat.
Bright red paint under the black. Hand painted repair shop name on the hood as well.
Original wiring, dash, gauges, and nickel plating seem to be complete and in good shape for its age.
Body is rough. Wood and metal is rotted at the lower door area. The doors kept it from folding in half when we lifted it to place on the frame. The rest of it seems straight enough to work with. Good pieces for grafting on another body
I placed the body on the frame good enough to be hauled to its new home. Body was off the frame when i bought it.
Rag top and pictured miscellaneous parts are included if you want them. Not sure how much of it belongs to this car.
No paperwork or title. I will give you a bill of sale.
Great candidate for a body swap or parts to keep other Cadillacs on the road.
Buyer arranges and pays for shipping. I will work with you to get it shipped. Pick up works too. Located outside of Amarillo TX.
