1918 Cadillac Type 55, we believe. Body #55N559. Engine # 58B105

True barn find. This car has been off the road and stored indoors since before World War II, 1941-42.

In 1985 the body was pulled off, engine rebuilt, chassis freshened up (steering, trans, diff may be rebuilt, (I can’t say for sure), then the owner got busy with his business and never finished the body.

Engine has a legitimate 30 miles on rebuild (done in ’85). Runs very smooth, lots of power, no abnormal noises. Minimal exhaust haze because the rings aren’t fully seated yet. Does seep oil from the pan, possibly because I overfilled it.

58N serial number on engine. No info found on it other than the GM and the historical society has no info on it either.

Transmission shifts well. PTO driven air compressor seems to work as well.

Rear end is tight and quiet. It may have been rebuilt also but not sure.

Brakes work. It will lock up the tires on dry pavement

Steering is tight, drives straight. I’ve had it up to 55 and it still steers good.

Front tires are from the 80s and hold air. Rear tires from around ’36 or so acc
